By using monkeyflowerranch.com (the "Site"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
The Site is a blog about Monkey Flower Ranch, a 90-acre area of pristine high desert near Weldon, Kern County, California, USA, and the nature, wildlife, night skies and history of the surrounding land. It is owned and operated by Bryan Bailey ("we", "us" or "our"). Our Privacy Policy forms part of these Terms.
Monkey Flower Ranch is private land. Writing about it on the Site is not an invitation to visit. Entry is only by arrangement with us or through a confirmed Airbnb stay. Any stay is governed by Airbnb's terms and our house rules on the listing, not by this Site.
All text, photographs and graphics on the Site belong to us or are used with permission, and are protected by copyright.
You are welcome to read the blog and share links to posts, including on social media. You may not copy, republish or sell our photos or writing, or use them in other listings, advertising or AI training, without our written permission. To ask, email bryan AT monkey flower ranch dot com.
The ranch holds Tübatulabal settlement sites and other places of deep cultural significance. We write about them to share their history and encourage respect, not to guide visitors to them. Removing or disturbing artefacts, rock features, plants or wildlife, on the ranch or on surrounding public land, is prohibited and may be illegal under federal and California law.
Please don't misuse the Site. That includes hacking, overloading or scraping it, or using it to break any law.
You can use our contact form to ask about the ranch, possible visits or anything else. Sending an enquiry doesn't create a booking or give permission to enter the property. Any visit has to be agreed with us in advance. Please keep messages honest and respectful. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle what you send.
Monkey Flower Ranch is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. This costs you nothing extra.
We only recommend gear and books we think are worth it, but we don't sell anything ourselves. Purchases, prices, delivery and returns are between you and Amazon or the seller.
Posts about hiking, wildlife, weather and stargazing describe our experiences. They are not safety, navigation or professional advice. High desert conditions are remote and can be dangerous. Anyone exploring the area, including federal land managed by the Bureau of Land Management and the Forest Service, does so at their own risk and must follow those agencies' rules.
The Site links to Airbnb, social media and other sites we don't control. We aren't responsible for their content or practices.
The Site is provided "as is". We do our best to keep it accurate, but make no guarantees. To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or injury arising from use of, or reliance on, the Site.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA. Disputes will be handled in the courts of Kern County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
If we change these Terms, we will update the effective date above.
